Below are some photos of the oversize loads he escorted...some locally and some accross the country. 

This switch-box weighs over 340,ooo pounds.  It was carried by 19 axles...that's 74 tires on the road!!!  It was a long ride from Baltimore to Eugene, Oregon...This is a windmill generator heading for a windfarm in Fowler Ridge, Indiana.  We picked it up in Greenville, South Carolina and delivered in Fowler Ridge six days later!  It weighs about 190,000 pounds.
This is a heater core that we took from Charleston, South Carolina to a small town in West Virginia.  It is used to cool the main reactors in a power plant they're building there.
This metal bridge beam was fabricated near Winston-Salem and delivered near the Virginia State line.  It is 115 feet long.
 This tank is 80 feet long and 15'4" from the ground.  We took it from Charlotte to Salisbury...though only about 45 miles, it took almost 8 hours to negotiat turns and low power lines.
 These transformers were built in South Boston where we picked them up on Monday morning.  We arrived just outside Toledo, Ohio on Thursday afternoon.  They weigh over 130,000 pounds and were 15'6" off the ground.  Power lines and tree limbs were our worst enemies!
 This is the top half of a coal chute that we took from Orangeburg, SC to a coal mine west of Charleston, WV.   It's 14'3" wide but weighed only 8,000 pounds.
 
You certainly don't want to see this load again!  It's the inside of a jail cell that we took to a small town in Pennsylvania.  It hung over the right hand side of the truck by 5'8".  This is the reason you need to pull your car as far off the road as you can when you stop on the interstate.   This gas valve went from Charleston, SC to Central, Texas.  It took four days to negotiate all the state permits and routing changes.
This concrete bridge beam is 189' long...with the tractor we were 212' long (from bumper to bumper).  It started in Charlotte and is now under a bridge west of Raleigh.
