Our Quest
Rooster Hill Farms is dedicated to helping families return to the basics of living. As Americans slowly return to their aggrarian roots, more and more people are keeping small flocks in their backyards. City after city has changed their policies to allow people to keep a few chickens for their own use.
Our Henpen has been so much more successful than we could have ever imagined. We want to help those who want to keep hens in their own backyard.

Randy and Cynthia Klocke are the proud owners of two small farms in Enochville, a small community in southern Rowan County, North Carolina. We purchased our first farm in June 2007 and started selling free-range eggs to a few local grocery stores.
In July 2008 we bought our second farm just around the corner and expanded our livestock operations to include some Nigerian cross-breed goats (partly for brush control and partly as pets...well, mostly as pets!).
We rescued four ducks in April 2008, who became 14 ducks when "Lucy" hatched her clutch in June. After selling off all but two of the drakes, our flock continues to grow. It's lots of fun watching them play in the small pond we had dug for them.
Most recently we adopted a pair of Black East Indies (a drake and a duck) from a dear friend in Camden, South Carolina. These beautiful birds are black with iridescent feathers that change colors in the sunlight.
Tom, a half wild-half domestic turkey decided to make one of our farms his home. He wandered in one morning in August and has been with us ever since. It's not likely now that he'll ever end up on our Thanksgiving table!

Where we're going...
We're in the process of building five more barns to accomodate an additional 250 hens. The new barns are being built on the old Kennerly farm, about a 1/4 mile from present production farm. This will allow the new hens to free-range on fresh ground and forage through the grass and roots of trees that have not been disturbed in nearly 25 years.
With the new farm comes a great deal of work; putting in new fences, sowing (and oversowing) new grass, and putting in a new water tower. Please feel free to contact us to come volunteer a day or two at the farms. Call Randy or Cynthia at 704-932-7379 for a time and place.
